Baked Grapefruit Alaska with Grapes and Berries |

Baked Alaska aka Bombe Alaska consists of ice cream and cake topped with browned meringue.

This recipe serves 4.


  • 2 grapefruits
  • 1/2 cup grapes
  • 1/2 cup of any fresh berries

For meringue:

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/8 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup sugar


  1. Preheat the oven to 500°F/260°C.
  2. Halve the grapefruits and remove the sections, keep the grapefruit skins.
  3. Mix grapefruits, grapes, and berries in a bowl, then fill them into the grapefruit skins.
  4. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks, then fold in sugar gradually and beat until stiff peaks form.
  5. Cover the fruits with meringue and bake in the preheated oven until just golden brown (doesn’t take a long time).
  6. Serve as breakfast or dessert.
